Lixin Zeng, PhD, CFA

Dr. Lixin Zeng is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Integral ILS since its launch in 2020. With over two decades of experience in catastrophe risk and reinsurance portfolio optimization, Lixin plays a pivotal role in shaping Integral’s scientific and data-driven approach to insurance-linked securities (ILS) investing. He leads the firm’s investment strategy and oversees the investment team, ensuring alignment with Integral’s long-term vision and objectives.

Prior to co-founding Integral ILS, Lixin served as the Chief Executive Officer of AlphaCat Managers Ltd from its inception in 2008. In this role, he was instrumental in portfolio management for the firm’s ILS funds and in driving the strategic development of the business. Before that, he held the position of Executive Risk Officer at Validus Reinsurance Ltd., where he led the development and execution of the catastrophe risk and analytics strategy for the Validus Group. Dr. Zeng was among the founding team of Validus in 2005. Both AlphaCat Managers Ltd. and Validus Reinsurance Ltd. were subsidiaries of the Validus Group, which was acquired by AIG in 2018.

Earlier in his career, Lixin held several key roles in the industry, including:
– Chief Catastrophe Risk Officer at Ace Group (2004 – 2005)
– Head of Development at Willis Re Inc (2001 – 2004)
– Analyst at EW Blanch Co (1998 – 2001)
– Research Scientist at Arkwright Mutual Insurance Co (1996 – 1998)

Lixin is recognized for his expertise in insurance portfolio optimization and risk management, and has authored multiple articles in professional journals on these subjects.

Lixin holds a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Washington (1996), a B.S. in Meteorology from Beijing University (1990), and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
