Emily Birrell, BSc Hons in Financial Mathematics, is Integral ILS Head of Business Development & Client Relations based in London, UK
Prior to joining Integral, Emily most recently worked in a consulting role for the Future Fund of Australia in Melbourne, where she led a review of the ILS program. Prior to this she was Chief of Staff in Melbourne for ShareRing, a blockchain start-up which facilitates secure payment, and sharing of goods and services.
From 2012 to 2018 Emily worked at Hiscox, where she held a number of roles. Emily was one of the founding team members of the Hiscox Insurance Linked Strategies platform, joining in January 2014. In this role, she was actively involved in the structuring and launch of several commingled and fund-for-one ILS vehicles, facilitating growth in AuM. Emily was instrumental in developing ILS fund products to suit investor needs, solving for complex operational processes; such as guidance over side pocketing and redemption mechanics, and the development of valuation policies, trade allocation methodology, and related governance. While with Hiscox ILS, Emily relocated to Bermuda for three years from 2015 to 2018.
Emily was awarded the 2021 Trading Risk ‘Young ILS Professional of the Year’ in recognition of the significant role she has played in growing multiple ILS franchise.
Emily holds a BSc Hons in Financial Mathematics from Newcastle University, UK.
